| Riverfest 2008 |
Riverfest 2008 will be Saturday, June 7, from 8:30-2:00 on Riverside Drive.
*Riverside will be closed to vehicles from Rockfalls Dr. to the Pony Pasture .
There's something for everyone
Events will include a 5k race (starts at 8:30), this is followed at roughly 10:00 by activities including: birdwatching tour( this is usually an early morning activity as well), Fancy bicycle parade, Hayrides along the river, Tree climbing and canoeing with Riverside Outfitters, Rivercritters with James River Naturalist Ralph White, Rickshaw rides by RiverCity Rickshaws, Climbing wall, Kayak demos, facepainting, Live bluegrass music( starting at 10-10:30) , food and more!
You are also welcome to just wade in the river and have a picnic on the Meadow!
Getting there
In the neighborhood? Walk or ride your bike down to the Meadow.
If you're driving remember Riverside Dr. is closed from Rockfalls to Pony Pasture so you'll have to park in the Pony Pasture parking lot then take a scenic walk to the Meadow from there ( about a 5-8 minute walk), or catch a lift on the hayride. *Hayrides will be driving up and down Riverside roughly every half hour.
If you see an empty rickshaw while your waiting or walking don't hesitate to hail it for a ride.
All activities are free except the 5K and food ( hotdogs, chips and drinks)

Riverfest Wicked RiverRun 5k Race
|
Among the events taking place June 7th for Riverfest is the 4th Annual 5K race.The race is open to the first 150 participants. Registration fee is $18.00. Register by May 30th guarantees a t-shirt. Walk-ups are welcome but does not guarantee a t-shirt.
Sign-up is 7:45 at Pony Pasture parking lot.
Race starts at 8:30.

2008 Course
Starts approx. .5 miles on Riverside Drive west of the Pony Pasture (close to 15mph
sign on right), go west on Riverside Dr. past Meadow, then left on Rockfalls, run length of
Rockfalls to Hill and Longview, and take left onto Hill Drive. Run the full length of Hill
Drive, turn right on Rockfalls to Riverside Drive, then right on Riverside to race end at
Meadow. |
